Ven. Neluwakande Gnanananda Thero arrived in Canberra to serve as the resident monk of Dhamma Vihara. The Ven. Thero is the head of the Deepaloka Viharaya, Kadugannawa and a senior lecturer of the National Institution of Education, Maharagama and Vidyalankara Pirivena, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya. As a senior Buddhist monk with more than 30 years of experience as a Buddhist teacher, Ven. Thero has a deep understanding and knowledge of Dhamma.

The Sri Lanka Dhamma Vihara Saturday Daham school will begin from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, Saturday at Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Lyneham.

Religious activities:

  • Offering of alms giving (breakfast and lunch) including the evening 'Puja' to the Lord Buddha and resident Thero (incumbent monk) and reciting of Sutras', daily thrice a day;
  • Conduct and organise three full-moon day' (which are called Poya Days) anniversary programs (Vesak, Poson and Katina) that are important for Buddhist and other monthly full-moon day religious (Sill) programmes from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m. for adults in the temple;
  • Conduct annual Sil program from 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m. for children in the temple; and
  • Participate in special religious events in temples/houses of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia and interstate temples of Sri Lanka.
