History

Drogmi Buddhist Institute was founded by Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe and formally established in October 2009. Drogmi Buddhist Institute is dedicated to promoting the understanding, study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism in Australia and the establishment of a retreat centre.

Drogmi Buddhist Institute was established following on from Khenpo’s role as Spiritual Director of Sakya Tharpa Ling in Sydney where he spent more than 12 years building one of the leading Sakya centres in the world.

Under Khenpo’s leadership, Drogmi Buddhist Institute conducts regular meditation sessions, public teachings and a formal Shedra teaching program. Drogmi Buddhist Institute also hosts visits by the most pre-eminent Sakya Masters alive today. Everyone who visits the centre encounters a warm and welcoming atmosphere along with a strong devotion to the promotion of the Buddha Dharma and the renowned Sakya lineage.
